Grand Benefactor

Dr. Hanimireddy Lakireddy is a well-known cardiologist, philanthropist and one of the most successful Indians living in the U.S. For more than four decades Dr. Hanimireddy has been very actively helping underprivileged students both in India and the U.S. Several of these students have successfully completed their Ph.D programs. He has set up educational institutions covering Elementary to Master degree programs in arts, science and engineering to provide quality education in rural villages in India. Dr. Reddy built educational centers and dorms for female students at his alma-mater, the Medical School in Warangal, India. Dr. Reddy awards scholarships to students in Merced High School, Merced College, and University of California at Merced. He donated $1.2M to UC Merced to strengthen the medical program. The auditorium at UC Merced is named after Dr. Reddy. He is a major donor for the Theater of Merced which supports several community activities in and around Merced. Dr. Reddy came to America 45 years ago to pursue higher education. He received training in Internal Medicine in New York City, and training in Cardiology at Yale University in Connecticut. He has been practicing Cardiology for 35 years. He is honored with the Fellowship at the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Reddy has been involved with teaching graduate students and research scholars at UC Merced and UC Davis. He is providing his services as Professor of Medicine at UC Davis. Dr. Reddy has served on the Board of Trustees at UC Merced for more than 12 years.

Dr. Sarat Addanki

Dr. Sarat Addanki, Co-founder and Chairman of Ayurway USA & Radhaas Ayurway India, is an Ayurvedic Doctor from California College of Ayurveda with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Osmania University. He is a highly accomplished entrepreneur and a quality assurance professional with an impressive 27-year background in the implementation of Quality Programs and establishing Testing Centers of Excellence for large and complex IT landscapes such as McKesson Corporation, Tesla Motors, William’s Sonoma and other fortune 500 companies.

Deeply distressed after losing his mother to cancer, he did his Doctor program in Ayurveda at California College of Ayurveda, and involved himself in Ayurveda and understood how it can benefit patients and help them overcome pain and side effects of conventional cancer therapy. He is also rooted deeply into a spiritual path, by being a practitioner of Yoga, Pranayama and Kriya Yoga since 2001. Dr. Sarat also happens to be a disciple of Sri Paramahamsa Yogananda - one of the most celebrated Yogis both in the eastern and western worlds.

Mr. Bhasin brings over 20 years of experience in industry sectors that include healthcare, telecom and finance. He currently serves as the Chief Information Officer for BayHealth Development as well as Canopy Health. His prior roles including serving as the CIO of Alameda Alliance for Health, a managed Medicaid plan. He has held leadership roles in technology including CIO at Alphacare of Magellan Health serving Medicare Advantage and Managed Long Term Care members, and CIO of Preferred Health Partners, a multi-specialty group practice. Aman lives in the East Bay with his wife and two children. When he is not working Aman enjoys golf, traveling and spending quality time with his family. Aman attended CUNY Baruch College and earned a B.A. in Computer Information Systems. He received a M.S. in Engineering Management from NJIT College of Engineering.

Dr. Pratap Chillakanti

Dr. Pratap holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science, and an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of business. Pratap is an Entrepreneur, Adjunct Professor, Researcher, and a Mentor. He has over 30 years of experience in both the Silicon Valley technology industry and the academia in institutions like the University of California at Berkeley. Most recently, through his company GENI (Global Entrepreneurs Network Inc.), Pratap led his team in the development of an AI/ML-driven technology innovation and transformation in partner incentives & engagement for Cisco’s partner organization. The system supports over 25,000 individual partner sellers who earn rewards driven by dynamic incentives. Dr. Chillakanti was one of the very first in the high tech industry to envision and implement an integrated approach to collaborative learning. In 2011, as the founder and CEO of a startup company Lensoo in Silicon Valley, he was the first to introduce a self-organized cloud ecosystem for collaborative learning, teaching, and knowledge sharing.

In the academic environment, Pratap had the privilege of co-teaching graduate courses in Computer Science at University of California, Berkeley along with his mentor (late) Professor C.V. Ramamoorthy, a founding father of Computer Science/Software Engineering. Pratap also taught courses through the UC Berkeley extension. In the time period 2015-2017, Pratap was invited as a Visiting Professor by his alma mater in India, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University at Kakinada (JNTUK), to introduce MOOCS for over 25+ Engineering colleges in the University system. As part of this effort, he had trained the faculty in facilitating effective online learning and collaboration. Pratap has numerous publications in journals, books, and conferences in information security, dynamic collaboration, and transdisciplinary education, research, development. He is a frequent speaker at conferences. He personally supports many education initiatives especially for the less fortunate. Pratap firmly believes in sharing his entrepreneurial success stories and challenges. He actively mentors other entrepreneurs while continuing his own aspirations to change the world through his innovations. As a lifelong learner, Pratap is on theverge of completing his second Ph.D. in transdisciplinary research from Texas Tech University.

Sukhi Chahal

Mr. Sukhi Chahal was born in district Mansa of Punjab, India and migrated to USA in 1992. He has attended Guru Nanak Engineering College Ludhiana, Punjab from 1988 to 1992. He is computer engineer by profession; have attended Stanford and UC Berkeley for computer and management related executive courses. He has held senior management, engineering and consulting positions at various Silicon Valley based companies. He is founder & chairman of Punjab Foundation, a Silicon Valley, California based nonprofit organization since 2015. Punjab Foundation provides educational support for underprivileged kids. He has been working very closely with Government of India and U.S. businesses leaders on fostering a robust and dynamic relationship to strengthening the U.S.-India bilateral and strategic partnership. He is Founder and President of The Khalsa Today. He is socially very active in the local community and have played major role in building bridges among the Hindu, Sikh and Jewish communities.

Suresh Babu

Suresh Babu is a well-known community leader in San Francisco Bay area. Hailing from Bengaluru in India, Suresh is very active in the local Kannada community and served as the president of Kannada Kota of Northern California (KKNC). Suresh led the AKKA World Kannada Conference in 2014 as conference convenor. The 3-day event, which drew 4500+ participants, remains one of his biggest achievements to date.

Suresh is also active in various philanthropic organizations in the Bay Area and is a regular face at community events. His other interest includes theatre (acting, dancing & directing), literature and spiritual activities. “Creativity” - in all walks of life and specifically in arts, drives Suresh day-in, day-out.

Dr. Venu G. Dasigi, Ph.D.

VENU G. DASIGI is currently a Professor of Computer Science at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he previously served as Department Chair (2012-13) and Dean from (2014- 18). He has held Professorial and administrative positions at other universities previously, at Southern Polytechnic State University (now Kennesaw State University) in Atlanta, Sacred Heart University in Connecticut, and Wright State University in Ohio. He has a PhD in Computer Science from University of Maryland, College Park, prior graduate and undergraduate degrees in Engineering from the Netherlands and India.
Dr. Dasigi's teaching and research interests are in Information Search, Retrieval and Classification, Text Mining, Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks, etc. He has authored over sixty technical papers and reports, and published in journals such as ACM/IEEE Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, International Journal of Data Mining and Bioinformatics, Pattern Recognition, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, and International Journal of Intelligent Systems, as well as conferences such as the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) and the World Conference of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). He is currently interested in Unicode processing and analysis of languages other than English, including languages of India. Dr. Dasigi has also served a full term of five years as Commissioner on the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc., and has been a program evaluator since 2001.
Dr. Dasigi has received various federal and state grants totaling over $2M, some in collaboration with others, and has held research fellowships at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Air Force Research Laboratory. He was involved in the proposal development for and subcontracted on two Small Business Innovation Research. He conceived and organized a national workshop, "Toward DomainIndependent Strategies for Abductive Inference," sponsored by Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence in 1991, and has served on the organizing committees of several conferences. Dr. Dasigi is a senior member of Association for Computing Machinery, a member of the IEEE Computer Society. He is a member of the founding group for the Pledge of the Computing Professional.

Ashish Nanda

Ashish Nanda is Senior Lecturer and C. Roland Christensen Distinguished Management Educator at Harvard Business School. He is course head for the MBA Required Curriculum course in Strategy and teaches courses in leadership, strategy, and professional services in MBA Elective Curriculum and executive education programs.

Nanda’s research, teaching, and advisory work focus on leadership and strategy, particularly in the context of professional services. Over the course of his academic career, he has published more than 120 case studies and course notes, several of which have been bestsellers. He has published several articles and is a coauthor of Professional Services: Text and Cases. During his stint as Director at IIMA, Nanda has written on, and participated in conferences and task forces related to, administration of higher education institutions, particularly professional schools.

Nanda has advised professional service organizations, including asset management, investment banking, accounting, advertising, engineering consulting, executive search, financial services, human resource consulting, IT consulting, law, management consulting, public relations, and real estate firms. His work with these organizations has spanned advisory board membership, strategic planning, organization design, governance systems, succession planning, compensation systems, recruitment and promotion practices, and leadership development. He has taught globally in executive development programs tailored for professionals, entrepreneurs, and senior government officials. He has been a non-executive director on boards of public companies, private
firms, partnerships, not-for-profit organizations, and academic institutions.

Prior to joining HBS, from 2013 to 2017, Nanda served as Director of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (https://www.iima.ac.in), India’s premier management institute. Nanda developed and executed the Institute’s strategy. During his tenure, number of chaired professorships increased from one to 16, faculty recruiting was accelerated, executive education grew significantly, and a blended-learning MBA program was initiated. Nanda led a fundraising drive which raised approximately INR
250 crore, a larger commitment by private donors in the four years of his tenure than in the 50 years prior. The fundraising afforded the institute the ability to intensify research
investment, expand programs, and invest in infrastructure. The institute begin a major campus expansion project and restore the iconic heritage campus designed by Louis Kahn. Nanda was also actively engaged in the development of the IIM Act, which recognized IIMs as institutes of national importance and granted them significant autonomy. In addition to his responsibilities as director, Nanda taught courses on ethics and professional services in the MBA program and in executive education offerings.

Before joining IIMA, Nanda was the Robert Braucher Professor of Practice at Harvard Law School. He joined HLS faculty in 2008 as a chaired professor with a mandate from to bring the world of practice closer to the world of academia. During his stint at HLS, Nanda established a unique executive education program (https://execed.law.harvard.edu/), which became recognized as the premier executive education program for law firm and corporate counsel leaders. In addition to establishing executive education, he set up a case studies center at HLS (https://casestudies.law.harvard.edu/), which has become a valuable source of scholarship for law students and practitioners in the profession. Nanda also taught courses for JD and LLM students on leadership in law firms and business and finance for lawyers.

Nanda was a Harvard Business School faculty member for 13 years before joining Harvard Law School. During that time, he taught MBA courses, doctoral seminars, and executive education courses in general management, leadership, ethics, professional services, and joint ventures.

Nanda holds a PhD in Business Economics (Harvard), an AM in Economics (Harvard), a PGDM in Management (IIM Ahmedabad), and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering (IIT Delhi). Before pursuing his PhD, he worked for five years with the Tata group of companies as Tata Administrative Services officer. He has received C. Roland Christensen Distinguished Management Educator designation from Harvard Business School, IIT Delhi Distinguished Alumni Award, Harvard Business School’s Henry B. Arthur Fellowship, Harvard University’s Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics Faculty Fellowship, President of India Gold Medal (twice), and IIMA Director’s Gold Medal. Nanda is married to Shubha Nanda, a faculty member at Tufts Dental School, Boston. The couple has a son Pranav, who is a neurosurgery resident at Massachusetts General Hospital. In his free time, Nanda enjoys reading and traveling.
